The release of Xero Mobile means small business owners who use Xero (blog.xero.com/2008/09/more-mobile) web-based accounting software can now get management
level business information on their Blackberry and Windows mobile devices. A version for iPhone and iPod Touch was released earlier this year.
Xero Founder and UK MD Hamish Edwards says that one of the (www.xero.com/whosusingxero) online accounting system’s most popular features is the dashboard presentation of management level information and cash flow details. This information is available in the Mobile version of the web-based accounting software.
“People might think that online accounting with Xero is about compliance and doing the numbers. That’s only half the story. It’s also about presenting real time financial data back to small businesspeople in way that makes sense and helps them manage their business better,” he says.
“One of the benefits that non-accountants who use our web-based accounting system talk about is how much more in control they feel because they know what’s going on with the day-to-day finances. Now you can get that information anywhere, anytime directly from your mobile device. Being in control of your business is easier than ever.”

Xero’s online accounting system helps small businesses run a smarter, leaner operation - in the office, on the road and even at Everest base camp.

Fans of Xero web-based accounting software explain how their business management has been transformed, on YouTube.
England, UK, November 08, 2008 — Accounting software isn’t often considered great television material, but online accounting provider Xero believes it’s got a great story to tell. It’s launching its own channel on YouTube so small businesspeople can see how the company’s web-based accounting system is helping other small businesses get ahead.
Xero Founder and UK MD Hamish Edwards says online video is very popular and an immediate way to show businesspeople that the company’s web-based accounting software really does make a big difference for people managing a small business.
“We truly believe that we have a great product in Xero. It’s very good online accounting software. But more importantly it’s a really useful tool to help small business owners run their business better,” he says.
“Xero is packed with automated processes that make routine admin like bank reconciliations and invoicing easy. But where business owners really find it adds value is that they can instantly get an up-to-date overview of their cash flow – what’s coming in, what payments are coming up, who owes you money.
“That’s the kind of information you need to keep on top of if you’re going to be successful. And you can’t get that big picture view just using spreadsheets.”
The YouTube channel will feature clips of the web-based accounting software company’s founders as well as thoughts from customers and useful information for small business.

HiveLive Inc., a publisher of enterprise social-networking platforms, reported Monday that its technology is powering an online community for the American Accounting Association. HiveLive said the association is offering the custom-designed community, called AAACommons, as a place for university professors, researchers and accounting professionals to advance their craft. Specifically, HiveLive noted, the association’s 8,000 members can use the site to share resources, search for colleagues and experts, exchange teaching tips and keep track of industry news and trends. The community, HiveLive said, was built on its LiveConnect platform. HiveLive is a privately held company headquartered in Boulder, Colo.
