Peachtree Pro Accounting 2009 for Free (After Rebate) Expires 10/29/2008

Peachtree Pro Accounting 2009 retails for $130 at FRYS and there is a $130 rebate if purchased between 10/22 to 10/29/2008.  There is also free shipping from FRYS.  This is the rebate form.  If you do not have a printer, FRYS will mail it to you.

I have not used it myself as it looks like it really is more for a business than an individual and I have my own system.  Looking around the web it looks to be a good accounting software, but may be more difficult to learn than others.

There is free support for 30 days after registration, but after that support costs.

If you are looking for accounting software for your business (or yourself), this free offer may be worth a look.

Peachtree Accounting Remote Exploit

Today I got out of the way of a lecture and slipped into the lab to kill some time. For a while now I’ve been weary of the labs setups, running Internet Explorer 6 and seemly rarely updated software. So I decided to check out some activex components for bugs. Not to mention the other unsafe looking functions, one called “ExecutePreferredApplication” really caught my eye. Bada-bing, Bada-boom:

arg1=”C:/WINDOWS/system32/calc.exe”
target.ExecutePreferredApplication arg1

I didn’t have much time to play with it, but at the least you can execute programs and probably tag some parameters on there too to make it really nice. And yes, it is safe for scripting and safe for initialize (SfS/SfI). PAWWeb11.ocx is the one with the problem, a component of Peachtree Accounting. Now the version installed was version 2004, but assume all the versions with PAWWeb11.ocx vulnerable as well, since this doesn’t look like an issue thats been public until now. You can find the full exploit code @ Milw0rm or some other security sites.

I am going to try Peachtree accounting checks.

It is important for an accountant to have a good software program for printing checks. It is also important for the checks themselves to be professional-looking after they are finished. I have tried several different software programs and checks, with some being very expensive. I am going to try Peachtree accounting checks. They are very affordable when compared to a lot of other accounting checks, and they seem to be very professional looking. I have had problems with some brands. They often get stuck in the printer, or they look smudged once they have been printed. Others, who use Peachtree products, say that they are professional products at an affordable price. I am going to see for myself.
